On 1 February 1958, the inaugural Festival of Sport (hereafter FOS) was held at Queen Elizabeth II Youth Centre in Mong Kok. The Festival was co-organized by the SF&OC and 11 sports associations. The Opening Ceremony kicked off with a music performance by New Method College. American World Women Badminton Champion Margaret Varner Bloss was also invited to perform at the Festival. On 23 February, the outdoor events of the Festival were held at the Hong Kong Government Stadium.

This year is the 62^nd edition of FOS, with the staunch support from Leisure and Cultural Services Department, more than 60 Sports Associations will co-organize over 60 sports activities from April to May 2019, at various districts of Hong Kong for people of all ages to take part. They can reveal their sport talent through active participation in sports and develop a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly.

62^nd FOS Carnival cum Opening Ceremony will be held on 5-7 April 2019 at Kowloon Park to kick-off the Festival. Apart from an array of sports activities including sports demonstration and trial, exhibition, workshops and lucky draw etc. We look forward to the participation of all the public.
